Sandra Vera-Zambrano is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. She belongs to the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, level 1. Her writings focus on the sociology of journalism and political communication. She has been awarded for her analysis on the evolution of celebrity journalism within the journalistic and the political field (Prix Varenne, 2013 and Prix des Assises du Journalisme, 2014).
Currently, she explores the implication of economic constraints and the generalized use of social media on local journalism in France and the United States. She is also coordinating a project focusing on the evolution of journalists’ reduced job security in Mexico. She also writes about the epistemology of the social sciences, and, particularly, the epistemology of communication studies. Her work has been published in Journal of Communication, New Media and Society and Sur le Journalisme, among others.
